Another random render! Modelled in ngPlant, rendered in Blender using Cycles to 500 passes. Think I'm getting the hang of modelling trees.

Feel free to leave critique :)

The leaves look great

I really like it! ngPlant looks promising. Might need to meld the branches/trunk by hand, but it certainly looks complex.

Do you have the option to enable sky-sensitive leaves in ngPlant directly?

You mean making leaves that face the sky? You can't directly, no. What I do is set the angle the leaves are distributed across the branch to 180 degrees, so it looks like they're facing the sky. You don't notice the leaves being slightly in the wrong direction if they're evenly distributed.

Leaves are nice; did you have the wood part look unfinished by choice? (I mean: branches are too tick at their origin, and bark needs some displacement).

This was more of an experiment, didn't get around to making the bark nice. I'd like to do a full scene sometime.

I think you ought to, for foliage is definitely on the good side.

I'm curious on your method for the leaves.

Each leaf is a single plane, using the textures from my leaf texture pack. In Cycles I used 2 mix shaders to add transparency and translucency, my node setup is here. :)

Actually, i had figured that out. I was more trying to figure out how you applied the leaves to the tree.

Used a branch as a quad type in ngPlant.
